We love green beans in our house and it is one of the the vegetables that many of us grow in our garden, so it is always nice to have different ways to cook them, especially if you are doing them for a special occasion, dinner party or just fancy a nice big bowl of them to serve up in a lovely serving dish at a BBQ, when you find yourself with a glut of them during harvest time it is always nice to have a few different recipes up your sleeve to make them a little bit more interesting.

French beans are delicious and so easy to grow, it doesn’t matter if your garden is large or small and they can even be grown in containers up wigwam canes. They make great finger food for children, and are ideal for anyone who doesn’t like the ‘stringy’ bits in runner beans!

Even a few plants will reward you with a reliable crop and they are great fun to grow with Children. My Daughter can be a bit fussy but she will eat piles of these and they are one of her favourite foods.

These beans go so well with Hubby’s Flat Chicken  and were delicious, this recipe really is something a little bit different, so simple, but really made the beans more interesting and special, they were sweet and so flavoursome.

Also after all the meringue recipes that I have brought you lately, I thought maybe a break from desserts would be nice and something a little more healthy may be in order.

Buon appetito

Pan Fried Green Beans

Ingredients:

1 lb/450g fresh green beans, ends trimmed
3 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon white granulated sugar
2 tablespoon sesame oil
2 teaspoon minced garlic

Method:
Place the green beans in a saucepan with one inch of water. Bring to a boil, cover and cook for five minutes.

While they are cooking, stir together the soy sauce, balsamic vinegar and sugar in a small bowl.

Drain the green beans, then heat the sesame oil in a frying pan. Add the green beans and garlic, cook for about a minute, just until the garlic is toasted.

Add the soy sauce mixture, toss to coat and allow to cook for a few minutes until the sauce has thickened and reduced.

Transfer the beans to a serving dish and drizzle the remaining sauce over them before serving.
